Prague - The Czech Chamber of Deputies expressed no confidence in the centre-right government today when the opposition's no confidence proposal was also supported by four government deputies.
Due to the four government deputies' support, the opposition gained the 101 votes that are needed for a no confidence proposal to succeed.
Deputies Jan Schwippel and Vlastimil Tlusty, both from the senior ruling Civic Democratic Party (ODS), and Olga Zubova and Vera Jakubkova, both former members of the junior ruling Green Party (SZ), voted against the government of Mirek Topolanek (ODS) along with the senior opposition Social Democrats (CSSD) and junior opposition Communists (KSCM).
This is for the first time in the Czech Republic's history that the opposition succeeded in expressing no confidence in the government.
Official results of the vote are being waited for.
