Michelinskou hvězdičku získalo Allegro a Maze
Prague - Allegro, the restaurant in Prague's Four Seasons hotel, has defended its star in the latest issue of the Michelin guide, and another Prague restaurant, Maze, has newly gained the prestigious award, Michelin Czech branch spokesman Daniel Cahel has told CTK.
A year ago, Allegro became the first restaurant in the post-communist countries of central and eastern Europe to receive the Michelin star.
From now on, Prague has two restaurants with the Michelin star.
Maze in the Hilton hotel was until recently run by famous British chef Gordon Ramsay, who left it a few weeks ago.
"It is a pity that Gordon Ramsay has left Prague," Marketa Sebkova, from Hilton Prague hotel's marketing department, told CTK.
She said in spite of Ramsay's departure, the style of his Maze restaurant has been preserved for now.
"At the end of March and the beginning of April we'll present a new project and a new chef," Sebkova said.
Two Prague restaurants, Aromi and Le Terroir, remain in the Bib Gourmand category known as good meals for reasonable prices, a position they attained last year.
This year they have been joined by Le Cornichon, while Brasserie M has been deleted from the Michelin guide.
Michelin commissioners assessed 21 gastronomic facilities in the Czech Republic.
In total they assessed 3180 facilities in 20 European countries.
The new issue of Michelin's gastronomic guide will appear in bookshops on Wednesday.
