Prague - The Czech Social Democrats (CSSD) continue to have a big lead and the ANO movement of billionaire Andrej Babis is the second most popular party, according to an opinion poll by TNS Aisa agency released by public Czech Television (CT) today, three weeks before the general election.
If the election were held now, the CSSD would win 29 percent of the vote, or more than twice as much as the ANO that gained 13 percent.
The Communists (KSCM) won 11 percent, the two right-wing parties, TOP 09 and the Civic Democrats (ODS), 9.5 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively, and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) 6.5 percent, the poll showed.
The Zemanites (SPOZ) gained 5 percent, which is the threshold to enter the lower house of parliament, and the Dawn of Direct Democracy of senator Tomio Okamura received 4.5 percent and the Green Party 3.5 percent.
The poll confirmed the ANO´s growing popularity. It also showed a decrease in voter support for the Communists, compared with a poll held last week.
Five-seven percent said they will certainly cast their votes in the early general election on October 25-26, while 14 percent said they certainly will not take part in the election and 16 percent said they may take part in it.
Three weeks ahead of the election, four out of ten have decided whom they will vote for and three out of ten has probably made their mind, too. Most of the remaining people say they still may change their mind and only 5 percent said they are yet to make their mind.
A slight majority of Czech believes that the general situation on the domestic political scene would not change after the election, one third of them expect the situation to worsen and 27 percent expect it to improve, the poll showed.
