Another five Czech students contract swine flu

Only one of the 15 infected persons from the school has been tested negative for H1N1 virus, she added.

The swine flu infection was previously confirmed in ten cases - eight students, one school employee and another person who was in contact with them.

They all participated in a trip to the partner school in the Bavarian border area.

A total of 30 students and four adults got in contact with the pandemic flu during the trip. As the excursion head was informed about it by German teachers, they called a Czech specialist and received advice on their way home.

The students' parents were informed about the situation immediately after the arrival in the Czech Republic.

The disease developed in some participants in the trip. Those with flu symptoms were examined at the infectious diseases ward of the hospital in Ceske Budejovicee.

In all cases the course of the disease was light, with temperatures of up to 39 degrees Centigrade, coughing and running nose. The patients were released to home care and they must stay in isolation.

Since the return from abroad, none of the infected persons have got in contact with other students.

Over 300 people have contracted swine flu in the 10-million Czech Republic so far, including over 30 residents of south Bohemia.

A 31-year-old woman died of swine flu in Karlovy Vary, west Bohemia, last week, being the first victim of the disease in the Czech Republic.
