Prague - A total of 39 entities have filed their lists of candidates for the May 23-24 European Parliament (EP) elections by the deadline at 16:00 CET today, which is six more than five years ago, Interior Ministry spokesman Vladimir Repka has told CTK.
Repka did not rule out the possibility that the number may rise. Some nominations may be hidden among the big quantity of documents that are daily delivered to the ministry´s post room, he added.
He said the ministry will publish a list of the running parties, movements and coalitions immediately after they are arranged in alphabetical order.
All seven parties and movements represented in parliament said they would be running in the EP elections.
They are the government Social Democrats (CSSD), the ANO movement and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), and the opposition Communists (KSCM), TOP 09, the Civic Democrats (ODS) and the Dawn of Direct Democracy.
