The Volkswagen group has preferred Skoda to Seat, both of which are its units, as the producer of the new model, MfD noted.
There are speculations that the new production will create hundreds of new jobs, MfD said.
Production of the new model under working name Snowman is planned to be launched at the end of 2015. Production under the Seat brand name is to start in Kvasiny several months later, MfD said.
Skoda Auto spokesman Jozef Balaz has not dismissed the information but said that the final decision has not been made yet. Skoda Auto's Kovo trade unions leader Jaroslav Povsik is nevertheless optimistic, MfD said.
Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, who mentionted a chance of extending production of Skoda Auto in a discussion on public broadcaster Czech Television (CT) last Sunday, is to meet representatives of the Volkswagen management in Wolfsburg, Germany, on Friday.
Skoda's Kvasiny plant currently produces models Superb, Yeti and Roomster.
The plant has recently faced a potential cut of production.
