Prague - The Czech Foreign Ministry today emphatically denounced North Korea´s third nuclear test, saying it seriously threatens peace and stability in the region and is at variance with international commitments and U.N. Security Council resolutions.
"The conducting of the nuclear test is a most irresponsible and deplorable act that seriously threatens stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the whole region," the ministry says in a statement sent to CTK.
The ministry called on North Korea to immediately observe all resolutions.
Shortly before Pyongyang officially confirmed the test, South Korea announced the launch of a nuclear bomb by its communist neighbour.
South Korea has convoked an extraordinary meeting of the U.N. Security Council at 15:00 CET today.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap wrote that North Korea informed beforehand China and the United States about the test on Monday.
