Česko selhává při potlačování úplatků
Prague/Berlin - It is mainly the task of the Czech justice and interior ministers to combat bribery in international trade, David Ondracka, Czech Transparency International (CTI) director, said today.
He was reacting to the Transparency International assessment report for 2009, according to which the Czech Republic and Slovakia are among the countries that fail in the implementation of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) convention banning bribes in international trade.
The report was published today and CTK has obtained it.
According to TI, only four countries that have signed the OECD convention are actively implementing commitments which ensue from it.
The OECD countries adopted the convention in 1997. So far, 38 countries have signed it and TI experts assessed the situation in 36 of them in this year's report.
According to the TI representatives, there is no political will to enforce the observance of the commitments ensuing from the convention in the countries that signed it.
"It is hypocritical when the governments sign the anti-corruption convention but has done nothing for implementing it in practice. In our countries, this is mainly the task of the Justice and Interior ministries," Ondracka said.
