Czechs assess Necas´s government worse than last year - poll

Only about a quarter of people think that Necas´s government is dealing with the country´s biggest problems.

After it assumed power in mid-2010, the government was trusted in this respect by a half of Czechs.

One year later the positive assessment dropped to 31 percent and it further decreased to 27 percent at the end of last year.

The best mark "one was entirely isolated. Ten percent of people gave the government mark two, about a quarter of the questioned used mark three and more than three fifths said the government deserves mark four or five," STEM said.

The resulting average mark was 3.81 last December, which is one tenth worse than a year ago.

The government was better assessed by people with a higher education and those living in better-off households.

A majority of supporters of the government parties gave the government mark three while opposition followers and those who do not go to the polls mostly used mark four or five.

Forty-five percent of the polled said the government should focus on inhabitants´ current problems. About one third of people would welcome it if the government focused on how Czechs will live in five to ten years, and a quarter of the polled said the government should be thinking about an even remoter future.

This opinion is mainly held by people with a higher education, a better financial situation, young people and supporters of the government parties.

The poll was conducted on 1074 people over 18 on December 1-7.
