V Plzni po Paroubkovi opět házeli vejci
Plzen - Jiri Paroubek, chairman of the Czech opposition Social Democrats (CSSD), was again the target of egg throwers at a meeting in Plzen.
The two hooligans followed the example of another two young men who threw eggs and tomatoes at Paroubek in Kolin, central Bohemia, on Wednesday. One egg hit Paroubek then.
The Plzen regional police spokeswoman, Michaela Altmannova, said the two men were taken to the district police station for questioning.
Similar attacks on Czech politicians are rare. The so far most famous is an incident in which eggs were hurled at former president Vaclav Havel.
In October 1991, when Czechoslovakia, a joint state of Czechs and Slovaks, began disintegrating, Havel was attacked with eggs by an infuriated mob at Bratislava's Slovak National Uprising (SNS) Square.
However, it was not Havel but current Czech President Vaclav Klaus, then Czechoslovak deputy prime minister, who was hit with eggs.
