Prague - Czech President Milos Zeman will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Sochi, the venue of the Winter Olympics, server Parlamentni listy has written.
Zeman´s spokesman Jiri Ovcacek said Zeman will also have a number of other meetings on economic and energy-related issues in Sochi.
"We expect quite a significant meeting between the Czech president and the president of the People´s Republic of China to take place. This is something we´ve been waiting for long," the Czech Presidential Office´s foreign department head Hynek Kmonicek told Parlamentni listy.
Ovcacek told CTK today that Zeman will also have working meetings, apart from visiting sport venues and competitions with Czech participation.
He will meet a number of significant statespeople at the beginning of the Olympic Games when attending a ceremonial dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ovcacek said.
Server Aktualne.cz has written that Zeman will be accompanied on his way to Sochi by Martin Nejedly, head of the Lukoil Aviation Czech company.
Ovcacek said Nejedly is joining the trip in his capacity as Zeman´s adviser for energy issues.
Nejedly accompanies Zeman on foreign trips quite often.
Zeman has recently held meetings mainly with the heads of eastern countries.
In late January, he received Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
The media criticise Zeman´s plan to receive Uzbek President Islam Karimov, who is considered a dictator suppressing the opposition.
Czech NGOs also protest against the planned visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych who is to come at Zeman´s invitation in April.
