Prague - The Czech economy could develop in 2014 better than the estimated 0.8 percent growth, Finance Minister Jan Fischer said after a government meeting today.
That is why he will prepare a new estimate of the state budget´s revenues, which will make it possible to raise certain spendings.
Fischer did not specify the new estimate. "Based on the latest data, the development may be better than the gloomy July prognosis," Fischer said adding that he will adjust revenues accordingly.
"This will open space for a partial meeting of the mass of individual ministries´ requirements," Fischer said.
The outgoing government of Jiri Rusnok is preparing the budget with a defict of 110 billion crowns. It counts with higher health care payments for the groups of inhabitants for which the state pays as well as with higher salaries in the civil service.
The original draft budget, which will be probably changed, counts with revenues at 1,082.4 billion crowns and expenditures at 1,192.5 billion crowns.
Fischer said today more money could go to transport and the State Fund of Transport Infrastructure (SFDI).
"We will also look at the housing fund and agriculture," Fischer said.
The draft budget will be debated by the tripartite, that brings together representatives of the government, employers and trade unions, on September 20.
The government must send the draft to the Chamber of Deputies that has been dissolved by the end of September. The draft budget can still be markedly adjusted by the lower house of parliament and the government that will emerge from the early general election on October 25-26.
The new lower house will deal with the draft on November 26 at the earliest, which is the date of the first session after the elections.
