Prague - The new Czech government today added Agriculture Minister Marian Jurecka (Christian Democrats, KDU-CSL) to the National Security Council that often deals with floods aftermath and sees to safety of the food offered on the market, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka has said.

The council comprises the prime minister and other government members.
At present it is headed by Sobotka (Social Democrats, CSSD). Finance Minister Andrej Babis (ANO) is its first deputy chairman.
The National Security Council is a standing body of the government that coordinates steps taken in case of a threat to the country.
Its meetings can be attended by the president who has the right to request reports from its members and discuss with them the themes within their power.
The council´s meetings can also be attended by the Czech National Bank (CNB) governor, the head of the State Material Reserves Administration, the Government Office´s head and the chiefs of the secret services.
The council has four standing committees: for coordination of foreign security policy, defence planning, civil emergency planning and for intelligence activities.
The Central Emergency Committee, which is the government´s working body for dealing with emergency situations, is also part of the National Security Council´s bodies.
