Prague/Brasilia - The Czech early elections started in America today since due to the time shift the vote is held on Thursday and Friday there, while they only start in the Czech Republic on Friday.
Czechs at embassies in Brazil and Argentina were the first to vote at 19:00 CEST.
One hour later, the polling stations will open in Cuba, on U.S. eastern coast and in Canada.
Depending on time zones, the voting will then move to Australia and Asia and it will continue in Europe and Africa where it will be held on Friday and Saturday like in the Czech Republic.
In America, it is possible to vote between 14:00 and 21:00 of the local time today and also on Friday.
The polling stations will be opened in 104 places across the world, primarily at Czech embassies, but also in the countries with Czech soldiers on foreign missions.
A special polling station is prepared for the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in Kyoto, Japan, where it has concerts.
Czechs with a permanent and temporary stay abroad over work, studies and recreation can influence the composition of the lower house of the Czech parliament, too.
A total of 7,989 Czechs have made themselves registered on voting lists.
Besides, the number can be increased by those who will come and vote with their voting cards.
In the 2010 general election, the Foreign Ministry registered 6,601 Czechs ready to vote abroad, but eventually the number reached about 10,670 persons.
