Prague - The Czech Foreign Ministry today called on Moscow to immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine, stop the artillery attacks from Russian territory and the deliveries of military equipment to pro-Russian rebels, and allow for an independent control of the border between Ukraine and Russia.

The ministry said the operation of Russian armed forces in eastern and southeastern Ukraine is a serious threat to peace and stability in Europe.

The Russian steps go against international law as well as against the statements that President Vladimir Putin made at a recent summit in Minsk where he said he sought a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine, the ministry writes on its website.
