Prague - Czech ambassador to Egypt Pavel Kafka will meet Arab League (LAS) representatives to repeat President Milos Zeman´s stand that the Czech embassy in Israel can only be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem after peace is reached between the Israelis and Palestinians, Zeman´s office told CTK today.
Hynek Kmonicek, head of the Presidential Office foreign department, said the office received today the text of the LAS Wednesday statement that says Zeman´s statements about the possible moving of the embassy breach international resolutions.
"(Czech) ambassador (Pavel) Kafka in Cairo was assigned this morning to repeat the position that the President repeated several times in Israel, that is that the embassy can only be moved after the peace negotiations are completed, Kmonicek wrote to CTK.
Zeman was on an official visit to Israel from Sunday to Wednesday, during which he moderated his previous statement about moving the embassy saying this is only possible after the Israelis and Palestinians conclude peace.
Kafka told CTK from Cairo by phone that he "will present the Czech position" on the possible moving of the Czech embassy in Israel today.
He added that Egyptian media, mainly Internet portals, paid attention to Zeman´s statements and reactions to them.
In his debate with Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni this week, Zeman said reconciliation must include a solution to the situation of Palestinian refugees.
"The proposal to alleviate the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian refugees by no means envisages their definitive status, and that is why it does not interfere in any way in their right to return according to the results of the peace negotiations in any way," Kmonicek said.
He said the invitation of the ambassador by LAS representatives is a standard diplomatic procedure.
"The Czech Foreign Ministry also proceeds similarly," Kmonicek writes
Zeman will on Friday receive five new ambassadors to the Czech Republic, including Palestinian diplomat Jamal Al Jamal, the Presidential Office has announced.
