Prague - One of the Czech government´s priorities is to develop cooperation with China, and it should be based on direct air connection between Prague and Shanghai, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said at the open of the China Investment Forum in Prague today.

The Czech government´s ambition is to build relations on standard European level with China, mainly in the areas of health care, tourism, industry, science and research, agriculture and environment protection, Sobotka said In his opening speech.
Sobotka also emphasised the importance of open discussion between both countries, including discussion on human rights.
China is interested in cooperation with the entire Central and Eastern Europe, Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli said. China would like to take part, for instance, in the construction of railway and ports in the region.
Sobotka noted that this year is the 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and China. He said he hoped that 2014 will be a new and strong impulse for further development of mutual relations, with emphasis being put not only on contacts at the top government level but also at a regional level.
Representatives of 16 CEE countries and China are to sign today a memorandum on establishing an association whose aim will be strengthening cooperation at the regional level. Moravskoslezsky region (north Moravia) governor Miroslav Novak is to become one of three presidents of this association.
