Prague - The guests to forthcoming Forum 2000 international conference of personalities in Prague include former U.S. secretary of state Madeleine Albright, Tibetan exile government head Lobsang Sangay and Serbian Deptuy PM for EU affairs Suzana Grubjesic, Forum 2000 writes on its website.
Croat Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic, too, is to be among the more than a hundred of guests expected.
The annual conference was established by the then Czech president Vaclav Havel. The 16th Forum 2000 will be the first to take place after Havel´s death last December.
Starting on October 21, it will focus on relations between democracy and the media, a topic proposed by Havel at the close of the previous conference a year ago.
Like previously, the guests will include representatives of the opposition from countries such as Belarus.
Stefan Fuele, Czech EU commissioner in charge of EU enlargement, is also to attend, as is former Slovak prime minister Iveta Radicova and media representatives.
The Forum 2000 Foundation considered scrapping the project after Havel´s death on December 18, 2011. However, the view prevailed that the Forum 2000 conferences should continue.
The Forum 2000 Foundation takes care of Havel´s legacy in the area of support to democracy and human rights, and the development of civic society, its director Jakub Klepal said.
Klepal has replaced the foundation´s long-standing chief Oldrich Cerny, who died this spring.
