V ČR je rozšířena diskriminace kvůli věku, soudí 74 procent Čechů
Brussels - Some 74 percent of Czechs say discrimination over age is more or less spread in the Czech Republic, which is the highest percentage in the EU, according to the results of a Eurobarometer poll released today.
More people - 79 percent - have the same opinion only in Hungary.
On average, 58 percent of Europeans say age-based discrimination is spread in their country, compared with "a mere" 42 percent last year.
In Slovakia, this opinion is held by 64 percent of people, the sixth highest percentage in the EU.
The lowest number of people - 36 percent - are convinced of discrimination due to age in Ireland.
The European Commission submitted in July a draft directive aimed to promote people's protection against discrimination on the basis of age, health handicap, sexual orientation and faith also outside the job market.
The EU member countries are now discussing the draft.
